June Style Diary

We are now well and truly into my favourite fashion season… Summer! This means that I have started to wear my summer wardrobe which I have spent so long building up. Someone really needs to teach me how to save because Summer clothing is definitely not good for the bank balance. I, as much as the next person love Winter for the cosy jumpers, Chelsea boots and leather jackets but often tend to use this an excuse to put no effort into my appearance. I always find that the Spring/Summer season forces me to stop hiding under those big winter jumpers and experiment with my style.

I have constantly found myself reaching for my Influence striped shirt dress which I got from Asos. I love the gold and black stripes on this dress as it is slightly different from your navy and white or black and white stripe pattern. One of the reasons for justifying this purchase was that while I may own lots of stripes, I don't have any gold and black stripes so this makes it totally ok. This is the first shirt dress I have purchased as I could never seem to find one that suits my figure. I tend to find that most shirt dresses just hang off my body and don't give me very much shape. However, this dress is very flattering all thanks to the drawstring waist which gives the illusion of some curves while cinching your waist in to make it appear smaller. The cherry on the top is the lightweight fabric making this the perfect Summer dress.

Despite the amount of handbags that I own I can never seem to pull away from my trustee Longchamp Le Pilage shopper bag. For £70 this bag is so durable and definitely worth a purchase if you're looking for a new handbag. I got this bag over a year ago and it is still in amazing condition despite the amount of university books that have been pilled in. I love the brown leather trims which make this bag stand out from your typical black handbag. My Longchamp bag can go with basically any outfit and I think that is one of the reasons why it is my go-to bag. The only down side is that there is no inside zipped pockets which means that when I'm frantically searching for my house keys in the pouring rain or looking for a bobby pin it's like finding a needle in a haystack.

On my feet I have been wearing these gorgeous baby pink loafers from Kurt Geiger.  I find that the colour makes the loafers look very classy and feminine which is perfect for when I fancy wearing jeans as it still gives me a girly edge. What I love most is the rose gold metal on the front of the shoes. I am obsessed with rose gold so when I seen the detailing I just had to get them.
Speaking of rose gold, to accessorise I have been wearing my Michael Kors rose gold bracelet which I got as a gift for my birthday from my boyfriend. I have never been much of a bracelet person due to the fact that my wrists are teeny tiny and everything just falls off them. But, after receiving this gift I'm totally converted to a bracelet gal and thats all down to the adjustable ties which allow you to put the bracelet on and take it off easily. I think we can all relate to the struggle of having to put on a bracelet with one hand. I love the diamond's in the middle of the bracelet and find it always adds the finishing touch to any outfit.

I hope you enjoyed reading my style diary and finding out my favourite June clothing items. Let me know what your Summer must haves are in the comments. You can follow me on bloglovin to keep up to date with all my posts.

The Perfect Little Getaway

I am not long back from a trip to Kielder Water with my boyfriend, Jake. This was a change of setting from our usual holiday. Nonetheless, it was so us! Our love for exercise and the outdoors made us decide on a cycling holiday, where we could venture away into the wilderness. Deciding on somewhere to stay was very difficult because everywhere was so damn cute, it was impossible to pick just one. If it were up to me I would have spent a night at each little place. We wanted to have the experience of camping outdoors but also the comforts of home. After countless links were sent back and forth we decided on ''PoSHHuts'', its glamping style meant that it was the perfect balance.

Our garden overlooked a picturesque woodland area. It was so peaceful and every morning we woke to the sound of lambs in the fields and birds in the trees. This was a pleasant change from the bustle of traffic and sirens of the city. We never got to use our outside fire pit due to the weather (typical Britain!), yet the wood burner within the hut meant that after a hard day of cycling around the Reservoir in the rain we always had a cosy spot to come back to.

One of the highlights of my time away was our trip to Kielder Observatory. Kielder is known for having some of the darkest skies in Europe and the third largest protected Dark Sky reserve in the world. This provides the perfect opportunity to star gaze especially in winter, when nights are darkest. The "Aurora night" which we had booked onto began at 11:55pm so we had a quick nap beforehand.  Out of all the nights we were in Kielder, by sheer luck, we had booked the only one with clear skies. As a result we were able to see Saturn, The Milky Way, Andromeda and loads more through the telescopes. I found this experience surreal as it is one thing seeing a picture of Saturn in a book or online but to see it for yourself was incredible! Jake and I are already planning our trip back in Winter to see more of the night skies. If nothing else works out for me then I can always become an astronomer, right?

Despite the fact that it has been two days since we cycled the 27 miles around the Reservoir and my legs are still hurting, our trip to Kielder was the perfect little getaway. It combined my love of nature and space with my new found love of cycling up huge hills.  It was a good change to be outdoors and in technological isolation, with no wifi or phone signal. My favourite bit was that I got to experience this with my best friend. #cringe
